Bulletin Summary
NEWMAR CORPORATION HAS DECIDED THAT A DEFECT RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY EXISTS IN SPECIFIC MOTORHOMES BUILT ON FREIGHTLINER CHASSIS. THIS RECALL IS THE RESULT OF INFORMATION PROVIDED TO US BY DAIMLER TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA. NHTSA RECALL# 16V 414, TC#2016-288 ON CERTAIN MOTORHOMES, AN INCORRECT SPACER MAY HAVE BEEN INSTALLED ON THE STEERING GEARS MOUNTED ON THE FRONT AXLE OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. THIS MAY POTENTIALLY RESULT IN WEAR OVER TIME LEADING TO A LOSS OF THE MECHANICAL CONNECTION BETWEEN THE STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT AXLE WHEELS. IF THIS HAPPENS, LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL MAY OCCUR, INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
