Bulletin Summary
Some 2018-2021 Expedition/Navigator, 2018-2020 F-150/Mustang and 2019-2021 Ranger vehicles equipped with a 10R80 automatic transmission may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P163E stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) or transmission control module (TCM) after replacing the main control valve body. This may be due to software incompatibility between the replacement main control valve body solenoid strategy file and the PCM/TCM software. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to enter only the 13-digit solenoid body strategy when downloading transmission strategy.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
