AN ERROR IN DME (DIGITAL MOTOR ELECTRONICS) SOFTWARE, IT MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE TO READ OUT THE DME DATA USING A NON BMW TESTER (I.E., SCAN TOOL, ETC.). AS A RESULT, AFFECTED VEHICLES MAY NOT BE ABLE TO PASS A STATE EMISSION INSPECTION WHERE THE TESTING PROCEDURE CONSISTS OF SCANNING OBD READINESS CODES. *PE
