Bulletin Summary
RD-00056 - The inspection and upgrade addresses a potential fastener edge distance issue with hopper side slope panel connection to the lower rail and the lateral cross members. A number of units have been found to have hopper side slope panels placed out of position (too low) in the manufacturing process such that the fasteners connecting the hopper side slope panels to the trailer structure may have inadequate edge distance on the hopper side slope panel. If this condition exists the hopper side slope panel connection may fail. The repair procedure is to first: inspect the hopper side slope panels fit to the lower rail using the gauge provided (SK-08892). If the hopper side slope panel is found to be out of position then additional fasteners are to be added as prescribed in the following remedy to re-establish the required joint strength. This document was sent with the Dealers Recall Letter for 16V050
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
