Bulletin Summary
On vehicles with optional equipment X22AA “automated shift assistant”, the selector drum may rotate the opposite direction briefly when downshifting in manual mode (‘M’ mode), particularly across transmission position ‘N’ (e.g. when shifting from 2nd gear to 1st gear). In some cases, this opposite rotation is detected as a fault due to overly sensitive component monitoring. The rider receives a corresponding warning message in the instrument cluster; the engaged gear remains engaged. The vehicle goes into a safe driving mode as designed (continue driving at idle speed only). Following turning the motorcycle of and back on again, the fault is reset, and the automated shift assistant function is available again.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
