Bulletin Summary
SERVICE BULLETIN M1683: INFOTAINMENT CONTROL UNIT (IFCU) MISSING WIFI MENU AND EMBEDDED NAVIGATION. PURPOSE: This bulletin informs dealers that in the event "VINERR" is displayed on the Infotainment Control Unit (IFCU), the IFCU will turn off the WiFi menu and Navigation. This is an as designed reaction to the "VINERR" message. In this condition functions such as WiFi, Wireless Apple CarPlay® and embedded Navigation will not work. "VINERR" will be displayed in the odometer if the IFCU and Electronic Control Module (ECM) are not seeing the same Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in both modules. This can occur during module replacement, module swapping during testing, module updates or the installation of an aftermarket module. Warranty claims for this concern may be denied based on the cause.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
