Bulletin Summary
SERVICE BULLETIN M1557: TOURING AND TRIKE REAR BRAKE SWITCH. PURPOSE: Revision. This bulletin informs dealers that Harley-Davidson has a mid-year change in how the Touring and Trike vehicles receive its rear brake signal input. The Touring and Trike vehicles will now receive rear brake input signal from a brake switch and will no longer activate the brake light based on rear brake pressure in the Electro Hydraulic Control Unit (EHCU). 2022 Electrical Diagnostic Manual (EDM) and Service Manual will be updated with this change. See Service Information Portal (SIP) for electronic version of manuals. NOTE: For information regarding brake switch signal changes on 2019 to 2022 Trike/CVO Trike and 2020 to 2022 Touring/Police Touring/CVO Touring vehicles built prior to the Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) noted in the bulletin below, see Service Bulletin M1568: Recall 0635.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
