Bulletin Summary
This bulletin is being written to inform technicians about the new Steering Angle Sensor in the affected vehicles and the importance of performing the relearn procedure after replacing the sensor or other steering related components that could cause the sensor angle to change. This sensor's position is initially learned by the Electric Hydraulic Control Unit (EHCU) during initial factory installation. The relearn procedure is done in order for the Electronic Stability Control and, if equipped, the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) to function correctly after steering wheel components (including but not limited to the Steering Angle Sensor) are replaced. If the sensor is replaced or if any component that affects the alignment of this sensor is replaced or adjusted, the Steering Angle Sensor position must be relearned by the EHCU. Below is a short list of components that, if replaced or adjusted, will require the Steering Angle Sensor to be relearned.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
