A limited amount of Model Year 2023 (MY23) vehicles were produced with Smart Opener control units set too sensitively. TheSmart Opener is part of the Comfort Access feature, enabling to open the trunk lid or tailgate using the âÂÂfoot kickingâ motionbeneath the rear bumper. When walking past the rear of the vehicle with a valid ID transmitter, the trunklid may open or closeunintentionally. The control unit for contactless trunklid opening (smart-opener control unit) interpretspassing by as a âÂÂfoot kickâ signal. Normally, the trunklid should only open or close after the âÂÂfoot kickâ motionbeneath the rear bumper.
