S63TU Engine: Noises from Leaking Exhaust Manifold. A rattling, knocking, clattering or hissing noise can be heard from the engine compartment while the engine is running. It is more pronounced when the engine is under load. CAUSE The exhaust manifold attaching screws have come loose, causing an exhaust leak.
