Bulletin Summary
Some vehicles may exhibit the following behavior: If the power liftgate (PLG) encounters an obstruction during opening or closing, the jam-safe function is designed to stop the liftgate and reverse it slightly. Normally, pressing the liftgate button (dash, liftgate, or remote) after this happens should cause the liftgate to continue in the reverse direction. Due to a software issue, if the liftgate button is pressed after the jam-safe function is activated, the liftgate may instead continue moving in the direction of the obstruction. This occurs randomly and cannot be predicted. To correct this concern, the control software of the power liftgate control module has been modified to ensure the liftgate always continues in the reverse direction when the opener switch is operated immediately after the jam-safe function is activated.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
