NHTSA Complaint #11712903 — 2023 FORD BRONCO SPORT

The contact owns a 2023 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in the garage and idling, the contact's husband noticed a strong fuel odor on the interior and exterior of the vehicle. In addition, the contact stated that the following day, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact noticed the fuel odor inside the vehicle. The contact stated that the fuel odor was entering through the vents. No warning lights were illuminated. The odor was extremely strong, and the contact drove the vehicle with the windows down in an outside temperature of 40 degrees. The contact stated that the odor made her nauseous for the remainder of the day. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The dealer was made aware of the failure, and an appointment was scheduled for the following week. A month prior, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was advised to change the fuel type for the vehicle. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V467000 (Fuel system, Gasoline); however, parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the local dealer to schedule a diagnostic test. The failure mileage was approximately 44,400.
