NHTSA Complaint #11712380 — 2015 HYUNDAI GENESIS

I sent a letter to the Hyundai Motor America LEGAL DEPARTMENT on 2 Jan 25. I see this as a major concern and safety problem for my grand kids, my family and myself. My car is a 2015 Hyundai Genesis VIN#: [XXX] four door sedan. The back left side passenger door coupler and handle have broken off the car between April and August 2025. I’ve called and spoken with the Hyundai dealership in Colonial Heights, VA about fixing the back coupler and handle. The Hyundai dealership informed me that all they needed to do is to order a new back door coupler and have it painted. After that, then they will call me once they’ve received the back door coupler and have it painted. Once everything is done, they will give me a call to schedule an appointment to have the back door coupler and handle to be put back on the left side passenger car door. I’ve scheduled the appointment to have the back door coupler and handle to be put back on the car. Everything was completed. Now, the back right side passenger door coupler and handle have broken off in December 2025. I’ve called and spoken with the Hyundai dealership in Colonial Heights, VA about fixing the right side back door coupler and handle. I’ve went through the same process above in getting the right side back door coupler and handle to be put back on. The Hyundai dealership informed me that all they needed to do is to order a new back coupler and have it painted. After that, then they will call me once they’ve received the back coupler and have it painted. Once everything is done, they will give me a call to schedule an appointment to have the back coupler and handle to be put back on the right-side of the passenger door. I informed them that I will be scared if I’m in an accident, and I can’t get my grand kids or family out of the car because of the couplers and handles are broken off and the safety lock is on.
