NHTSA Complaint #11691802 — 2021 GMC SIERRA 1500

The contact owns a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500. While the contact's husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact noticed an abnormally bumpy ride. The contact felt as if the vehicle was driving over rocks. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, parts were not yet available for the recall repair. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle had been at the dealer for more than two months awaiting parts. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
