Consumer Description
1. The transmission goes into neutral when downshifting without any user intervention. When upshifting the transmission will miss gears or go into a neutral state. These defects center around the Quick Shifter. 2. When trying to slow down to stop, the bike unexpectedly shifting to neutral can cause a crash very easily. I lost control several times trying to stop and nearly was hit by a car. When accelerating and the defect presents itself, it can cause you to loose control. I had a near miss and almost went over the handlebars. 3. I went to the purchasing dealer and they confirmed the issue. They had the bike almost 2 weeks and even had a factory mechanic look at the bike. Initially, they agreed it was a defect due to a software issue. However, they were unable to issue a fix. Ultimately Harley Davidson decided to tell me I was not shifting the bike ‘within parameters’ so they did not consider a defect. I strongly disagree with the statement as the operation manual contradicts the statement that there is a specified shift point that must be adhered to. Furthermore, I made several videos showing the problem in which they refused to acknowledge. Most troubling they have not given me the repair work orders for the bike after numerous attempts and visits back. After 30 days of the bike being out of service I sold it to an auction at great loss. 4. The check engine light intermittently would illuminate but never stayed on. The dealership stated it was due to the front suspension, a totally unrelated issue. Of note, I test rode a brand new bike separate from mine, and was able to reproduce the issue. I have video of this as well.
