NHTSA Complaint #11687543 — 2022 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended and lost motive power. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the side of the road. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine had thrown two rods and the crankshaft, and the engine had seized. The dealer replaced the engine; however, the vehicle was difficult to start for two days after it was picked up from the dealer. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a harness connection failure. The vehicle was repaired; however, the vehicle made an abnormally loud squeaking sound at startup. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with idle pulley failure. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
