NHTSA Complaint #11684216 — 2022 HONDA CR-V

I am writing to formally report a serious safety incident involving my [2022 Honda CRV], which is currently under warranty. On [XXX], while my wife was driving along the [XXX] from Soldotna to Anchorage, Alaska, the sunroof of my vehicle spontaneously exploded without any external impact or provocation. At the time of the incident: The temperature was approximately 65°F, eliminating thermal stress as a factor. There were no other vehicles nearby and no overhead obstructions. A Thule rooftop cargo carrier was mounted above the sunroof, providing a physical barrier that would have prevented any object from striking the glass. The vehicle has fewer than 30,000 miles and is less than three years old, qualifying it for coverage under Honda’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty. The explosion resulted in shattered glass raining into the top, creating a hazardous situation while driving.
