NHTSA Complaint #11683101 — 2022 JEEP WAGONEER

On August 22nd, 2025 my family and I were traveling in my Wagoneer down [XXX] , through the Bighorn National Forest. A dash notification stated that the cars start / stop system may no longer work and needed to be serviced. 5-10 minutes later, a battery light came on the dashboard. we carefully drove out of the mountains into the nearest town: Buffalo, WY. We pulled into an auto store. the employee there informed us the alternator was bad. There are no alternators available in the United States for a 2022 Wagoneer. I have been informed by the Jeep dealer that current backorder date to obtain one is 168 days. My family was stuck on the side of the road for 5 hours before we could get a taxi to a rental car place. When exiting the Bighorn National Forest, there are 5 warning zones that state there are upcoming grades of 6-10% and mandatory brake checks at each of the five zones for trucks (cars optional). This power failure could have been catastrophic for my family. I have come to understand that Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge have been having problems with the etorque / alternator systems since 2021. Now my very expensive wagoneer is stuck in Wyoming. Undriveable. I cannot obtain the replacement part for over 5 months.
