NHTSA Complaint #11680369 — 2019 NISSAN KICKS

The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the alternator and the Mass Air Flow sensor circuit had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, where the same diagnostic result was provided. The contact was informed that the alternator and the Mass Air Flow sensor circuit had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.
