NHTSA Complaint #11668195 — 2016 FORD FUSION

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, an abnormal knocking sound was coming from the vehicle. The contact's husband changed the spark plugs; however, the failure persisted. The failure persisted, and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with coolant intrusion into the cylinder, resulting in engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Several dealers were notified of the failure; however, each dealer informed the contact that there were no recalls related to the VIN. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for further assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 117,000.
