NHTSA Complaint #11664852 — 2021 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500

The contact owned a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while coming to a stop, the contact heard a loud sound coming from the engine compartment. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the connecting rod and the crankshaft engine components had failed, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired, and the dealer confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
