NHTSA Complaint #11664438 — 2014 RAM 1500

Power steering quit working while I was driving without warning. I have replaced the battery and tried numerous solutions and they have not resulted in fixing the power steering. Outside of replacing the entire rack, I have run out of options. My fear is that if I had been with my children, driving on a winding road, or otherwise, this error could have cost me thousands of dollars or totaled the vehicle and/or caused innumerable cost of damage to property or other vehicles and people. Without a resolution, the vehicle is rendered inoperable. According to the Mooar website [XXX] ) cost to replace has been estimated to be between $3105.00-$3870.00 before adding the service fees. This is a vehicle that our family of five needs. It is also something that is too costly to repair and we cannot trade it in or sell it for any real value. This issue is a safety concern that should be addressed of the highest concern. Other 2014 Ram 1500’s have been recalled due to concerns regarding the power steering; however, our vehicle was not given a recall. [XXX] ). I feel that this defect is extremely dangerous. Without warning, the power steering will intermittently stop working. Trying the truck off and waiting sometimes solves the issue but that isn’t always the case and expecting customers to drive a vehicle that has a defect that is a hazard, is irresponsible and has already cost our family money that we have needed for other expenses.
