NHTSA Complaint #11663500 — 2022 HONDA CR-V

I am writing to formally report a concerning issue I’ve experienced with my vehicle's power steering system. The steering intermittently "sticks" or resists turning, requiring slight but deliberate manual force to free it while driving. This occurs unexpectedly and is especially noticeable when taking a slight curve at a lower-speed. The sticking sensation feels as if the steering wheel momentarily locks in place or becomes unusually resistant, which can compromise driver control and response time. While the resistance is not extreme, it is persistent and potentially hazardous, particularly in situations that require quick or precise steering input to avoid obstacles or maintain lane position. This issue raises significant safety concerns, and I believe it may indicate a defect in the power steering system—whether mechanical, electronic, or software-related. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter, as even minor delays or inconsistencies in steering performance could increase the risk of an accident. I have talked with a couple of local dealerships who acknowledge that they have seen this issue in the newer CR-Vs but no recalls have been issued.
