Consumer Description
Jaguar Land Rover North America (JLR) continues to neglect its federal recall obligations for the 2019 I-PACE under recalls H441, H514, and H536, exposing owners to serious fire risks. Despite multiple recall efforts, thermal overload incidents persist, proving JLR’s interim remedies—software updates and charging restrictions—are ineffective. JLR admits in its notices that affected vehicles remain unsafe, yet fails to resolve the defect or provide fair compensation. The only remedy is a manufacturer buyback, but JLR systematically undervalues offers, basing them on depressed Kelley Blue Book (KBB) values from Oct 2024 instead of pre-defect values minus reasonable depreciation. This forces owners into financial losses while JLR’s delays further erode resale value. JLR has refused to provide clear documentation on its buyback calculations, delayed responses to affected owners, and employed coercive tactics, telling consumers to accept flawed offers or risk future depreciation. In March 2023, nine months after purchasing our I-PACE, we experienced the first of three "Traction Battery Faults," narrowly avoiding fire. Since then, our vehicle has been restricted to an 80% charge, reducing range by 26% while still requiring outdoor parking due to fire risk. JLR’s failure to act promptly violates federal safety standards and leaves affected vehicles as potential hazards in public spaces. I urge NHTSA to investigate and enforce timely recall remedies, fair valuation processes, and immediate buyback completion. Owners should not be receiving emails like this. "It appears that we cannot agree on the repurchase of your MY2019 Jaguar I-PACE impacted by recall H514/H536. Please note that this final recall remedy will remain open on your vehicle. In the future, should you decide to accept the H536 final recall remedy (repurchase) for your MY2019 Jaguar I-PACE, the amount offered at that time may not be the same as today, due to depreciation, age, and mileage."
