The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the tailgate independently opened, and items in the bed of the vehicle were lost due to the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times; however, the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. In addition, the contact was informed that Customer Satisfaction Program: 21M05; repair was performed in June 2022, and the technician disconnected the tailgate indicator light. The contact stated that the failure had occurred several times since Customer Satisfaction Program: 21M05; repair was performed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 23,735.
