NHTSA Complaint #11652235 — 2020 FORD F-350

The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-350. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the steering wheel was loose and had no resistance. The contact stated that the steering wheel failed to operate as needed. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the steering shaft had fallen out of the lower steering column. The mechanic was able to order the part and repaired the vehicle. The dealer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer for further assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall for the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 75,000.
