NHTSA Complaint #11649604 — 2020 FORD F-150

The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle started to lose power. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal and was able to drive the vehicle at 15 MPH. The contact then pulled off the ramp. Another person was able to help the contact move the vehicle to a nearby gas station. The contact then towed the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with catastrophic engine failure. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired because it was not under recall. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 183,000.
