NHTSA Complaint #11646729 — 2015 BMW 428I

The contact owns a 2015 BMW 428I. The contact stated while driving at approximately 15-20 MPH, the message “Do not Drive” was displayed. The vehicle sat overnight; however, upon starting the vehicle the next day, the messages “Do not Drive” and “Add Coolant” were displayed. There were no visible leaks found. The contact added additional BMW coolant. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V608000 (Engine and Engine Cooling, Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact scheduled an appointment with the dealer. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 138,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
