NHTSA Complaint #11641269 — 2018 HONDA ODYSSEY

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, there was a loud vibrating sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that when the vehicle was shifted into drive(D) and the accelerator pedal was depressed, the sound was louder. Additionally, the vehicle lost motive power during acceleration for approximately 10 minutes and then drove normally. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the high-pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a second opinion and the contact was informed that the high-pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 17,163.
