NHTSA Complaint #11638471 — 2024 GMC SIERRA 1500

I was driving my truck on Friday, [XXX], at approximately 50 m.p.h. The tires suddenly locked up and skidded momentarily and then released. Then a very loud clanging noise started in the engine. I lost power and coasted to the side of the road. Then the engine stalled. The truck was towed to Keeweenaw Chevy/GMC in Houghton, Michigan. I was later contacted by the Service Department and informed that the engine had indeed blown and a new engine would need to be installed. Engines are on LONG backorder. I was lucky I wasn't traveling 65 m.p.h or on snow covered roads, as this incident could have then resulted in a complete loss of control and hitting a logging truck head on.
