The contact stated that the vehicle was shaking erratically, and the brakes independently activated. Additionally, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while her son was driving on a busy highway. The vehicle was pulled over to the shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed electric actuator. The contact was informed that the electric actuator, gaskets, and spark plugs needed to be replaced. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.
