NHTSA Complaint #11635282 — 2017 GMC SIERRA 1500

On 12/5/24 took the truck to the dealership where we bought it with a complaint about the transmission. They took for a test drive could not find anything wrong with it, recommended we have the transmission flushed and filter replaced. They could not do the service so we got it into our local Chevrolet Dealership who did the work for us on 12/6/24. On [XXX] as we were departing a gas station in Tifton, GA, the transmission would not shift out of first gear and the temperature rose up to 234 degrees. Limped the vehicle to a campground, called a transmission shop who told us to bring in the truck at 7:30 am o 1/2/25. They were able to replace the transmission on 1/3. We had to drive it 500 miles before we could continue on our journey to Florida. Trying to accelerate on the Interstate and not being able to significantly put us at risk of a crash.
