NHTSA Complaint #11628863 — 2011 FORD F-150

The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at approximately 50 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power while depressing the accelerator pedal. No warning was light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that the RPM raised independently while the speed-o-meter went to zero. The contact was concerned because her child was in the vehicle during the failure. The contact pulled over the shoulder of the road and restarted the vehicle; however, while driving to the dealer the failure recurred and the vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission molded lead frame needed to be replaced. The vehicle was left with the local dealer to be repaired. The contact stated that after further investigation, the failure was linked with NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V075000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
