NHTSA Complaint #11626917 — 2024 HONDA CIVIC

The contact owned a 2024 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH and going around a curve to the right, the steering wheel seized and the vehicle failed to respond as needed, causing the vehicle to become involved in a head-on crash with another vehicle on the driver’s side of the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the air bags deployed as designed. The contact sustained back injuries and mild contusions to the back. The contact was transported by ambulance from the scene to seek medical attention. The contact stated that the medical attention was received. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed an independent mechanic. The vehicle was destroyed and deemed a total loss by the Insurance Provider. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V744000 (Steering) several days after the crash and related the failure to the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.
