NHTSA Complaint #11618462 — 2015 HONDA ACCORD

I am reporting a critical safety issue with my 2015 Honda Accord that poses a significant risk to my safety and that of others on the road. Although my VIN is not currently included in the active recall for the fuel pump affecting 2013-2017 Honda Accords, my vehicle is experiencing symptoms consistent with the issues described in the recall. Incident Details: On 9/28/2024, while driving, my vehicle suddenly lost power. It was limited to approximately 2,500 RPM and a speed of 40-45 MPH. This unexpected loss of power could have resulted in a severe accident, especially if I had been on a freeway or in heavy traffic where other drivers would not have anticipated my sudden deceleration. Diagnostic Findings: I took the vehicle to a mechanic, who scanned the fault code as DTC P0087 (Fuel Rail Pressure Too Low), confirming that the fuel pump is malfunctioning. The car can be made available for inspection upon request. Previous Condition: Prior to this incident, there were no warning lights or indications of a fuel system issue or any other issue. The sudden failure of the fuel pump has rendered my vehicle undriveable for over a week. Service Challenges: I reached out to the dealership for inspection and potential repairs; however, they quoted me $250 for the inspection and indicated there is a shortage of necessary parts, with a potential wait time of several months. This delay is unacceptable, given the safety risks involved. Conclusion: Given the correlation between my vehicle’s symptoms and the ongoing recall for fuel pump failures, I urge NHTSA to investigate this issue further. I believe my vehicle should be included in the recall, as it shares the same safety risks outlined in the active recall.
