Consumer Description
My motorcycle is only 3 months old. The chain adjuster snapped and locked up my rear wheel. This is very dangerous, I was only going 10mph when this happened. Had this happened at highway speeds this could easily have been a fatality as the motorcycle locked the rear wheel and shimmied side to side. There are numerous complaints about this same issue on Yamaha forums, and it is concerning because the dealership is claiming that Yamaha states they have never seen this. The motorcycle is a brand new model, and just released this year. The part is only made out of aluminum. Additionally, because this happened the chain subsequently broke the bracket that holds the adjuster and bent the swing arm that holds the wheel. Now numerous parts are required to be replaced over a small cheap aluminum part they engineered.
