NHTSA Complaint #11616369 — 2016 FORD FUSION

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was smoke coming from the exhaust, and the vehicle lost motive power with the check engine and the engine coolant over temperature warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there was coolant leaking into the engine, causing engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 121,761.
