NHTSA Complaint #11615932 — 2011 FORD F-150

The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shifted abnormally rough was banging into gear, and was slow to engage. The contact also stated that upon attempting to shift into reverse, the vehicle initially failed to shift, prompting the contact to turn off the vehicle, after which the vehicle would shift but was slow to engage. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular failure. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission lead frame. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 19N01. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 183,000.
