NHTSA Complaint #11615188 — 2020 FORD ECOSPORT

The contact owns a 2020 Ford EcoSport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V905000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, there was an abnormal grinding sound coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was losing motive power while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact was able to drive the vehicle back to the residence. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle stalled. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the oil pump had failed, and the engine needed to be replaced; however, parts were not yet available.
