NHTSA Complaint #11608676 — 2011 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced and was causing the air bag warning light to illuminate inadvertently. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact was concerned that the air bags would deploy without the vehicle being involved in a crash. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 168,044.
