NHTSA Complaint #11607000 — 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA

The contact owns a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while driving 10-15 MPH, the vehicle lost power steering functionality, and the electrical system shut down and the vehicle stalled. The message "Ignition Switch Off - Safely Stop the Vehicle" and "Starter System Faulty - Please Service Vehicle" were displayed. The contact was unable to pull the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle shut off again within 5-15 seconds of driving. The message "Starter System Faulty - Please Service Vehicle" was displayed. The contact stated that the failure recurred intermittently. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V604000 (Electrical System), which the contact related to the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.
