NHTSA Complaint #11605277 — 2019 ALFA ROMEO GIULIA

The contact owns a 2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 25 MPH in heavy bumper-to-bumper traffic, the vehicle in front was rear-ended. The air bags failed to deploy. In addition, the forward collision warning did not engage. No warning lights illuminated. The contact's wife sustained head, neck, lower back, and left rib injuries which required medical attention. The contact's wife was transported by ambulance to the nearest hospital. The contact sustained right hand, ribs, shoulders, and lower back injuries that also required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot where it remained. The vehicle was pending an inspection from the insurance company to determine if it was destroyed. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact became aware that the vehicle was included in the NTSA Campaign Number: 24V510000 (Airbags); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
