Consumer Description

The contact owns a 2024 Haulmark Stacker Trailer 9650. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH and towing a 28-foot Haulmark trailer with a 2023 Newmar Dutchstar RV 4370, the contact was alerted by a passing trucker who pointed to the rear of trailer being towed. The contact pulled over and checked the trailer and became aware that the 7-point pin cable was lying on the road and was damaged due to the connector being dragged. The contact stated that there were no straps or tie down clamps normally used to hold the cable in place against the frame. The contact stated that the brakes had automatically applied on the trailer when the 7-point connector cable had disconnected from the receptacle on the RV. The contact stated that brake pads had burned, and the rear trailer tires and rims were also damaged. The contact was able to take the trailer to a specialty heavy duty trailer repair shop to be repaired. The repair shop diagnosed the damage and advised that the brakes, tires, and rims needed to be replaced. Additionally, the 7-point cable needed to be replaced. The technician advised the owner that the trailer frame was missing key welds and that there were fractured welds and there were spots where the welder had burned holes into the frame. The trailer was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,500.
