NHTSA Complaint #11604130 — 2015 HYUNDAI ELANTRA

The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. The contact stated that the sound was like an airplane propeller spinning. The contact stated that the following day, while driving out of the driveway, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The contact used the parking brake to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a failed ABS module. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V651000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) prior to the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 174,000.
