NHTSA Complaint #11594728 — 2018 HONDA CR-V

While driving on the interstate the engine lost power and entered some sort of limp or low power mode. There were no warnings or indications of any problems on the dashboard. I was in heavy traffic at the time and suddenly a risk to others on the road and myself as the vehicle slowed dramatically despite my attempts to keep up with the flow of traffic. I had the dealer look at the vehicle and they indicated that the headgasket was in the early stages of failing. They indicated that the low power mode was due to engine misfires due to coolant in the combustion chamber. They did not have any explanation as to why a malfunction indicator light was not set nor did a light ever set. No check engine lights, no messages on the driver instrumentation display.
