NHTSA Complaint #11594332 — 2000 GMC JIMMY

[XXX] Steering wheel started bumping then heard noise from passenger side front. Started losing control of vehicle. Made it to the shoulder. Inspected tire, tire failure tread had separated from cord. Changed to spare tire which was bald. However tread from failed tire had bent metal wheel well and was rubbing on spare. Made it to Mr Tire. Had wheel well bent back and new tire installed. We could have been severely injured, killed or crashed into another vehicle, hurting or killing them. My daughter and grandson were in vehicle with me. No ins claim filed. No police report. Mr Tire did not inspect failed tire as I had changed to the spare I still have the failed tire. I plan to take the tire back to Walmart where it was purchased and installed. However I do not want another uniroyal tire.
