Consumer Description

Since 2019, I have reported that every fall (I have the service orders), when the weather changes and I turn on the heat, the check engine goes on and does not turn off. When I went to have this same issue serviced in January of this year, the service department found that the Timing Chain failure was causing the problem. Because my car was now out of warranty, Jaguar would not pay for it. However, upon further investigation, I discovered that this issue had resulted in complete recalls of my vehicle in other countries but not the US. So, I insisted that the service department put in a claim against Jaguar corporate. Jaguar corporate agreed to pay 40% of the repair cost, agreeing that there is a problem with the engine's design. This repair is costly and has nothing to do with how I maintain my car but a poor diesel engine design. "The timing chain breaks while driving, the car will immediately grind to a halt. It's also likely that some valves will be bent as they contact the pistons (the timing chain prevents this from happening by keeping everything moving in time). Significant valve/piston damage will occur.
