NHTSA Complaint #11583023 — 2020 FORD ECOSPORT

The contact owns a 2020 Ford EcoSport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V905000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 MPH the oil pressure warning light illuminated and the vehicle began to decelerate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the oil was changed although the contact was informed it was not needed. The vehicle was taken to a different independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a damaged wet belt and the contact was informed that a new engine was needed. The vehicle was towed to a different independent mechanic where the engine was replaced. The independent mechanic informed the contact that after the repair, the vehicle was jerking while accelerating. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
