NHTSA Complaint #11582337 — 2006 DODGE DURANGO

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, another vehicle abruptly merged into his lane in front of him, prompting him to rapidly decrease speeds. However, the vehicle ahead was too close; as a result, the contact collided with the rear of the other vehicle, forcing his vehicle to careen to the shoulder of the roadway before coming to a complete stop. The air bags did not deploy. The air bag warning light was illuminated. A police report was filed, and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V313000 (Air Bags); the VIN was included, and the vehicle was repaired.
