NHTSA Complaint #11580102 — 2018 HONDA CR-V

-The Collision Mitigation System (CMS). - The CMS system has deployed numerous times over the last six months (approximately) without warning for no reason. The last time, I was traveling at approximately 45-50 mph and without warning and with no car within 100 yards of my vehicle, the brakes were automatically applied taking my speed instantaneously down to less than 10 mph, creating a very unsafe situation, especially if there had been a car traveling closely behind. -The vehicle was brought to a Honda dealer who ran tests and said there were no code errors. I was told that if the system applied the brakes that it proves that it is working correctly, even though I argued that they may technically be working but not appropriately. -Yes it was seen at a Honda dealer. -There were no warning signals when this occurred. It was totally out of the blue and caused a whiplash affect. -In my opinion this is a very dangerous situation and luckily it has not been serious any of the times it has happened to date. I would hate for it to be serious in the future and cause serious or fatal injuries. Currently we have to manually shut off the CMS every time we are driving.
